Sympathy for Jeremy Clarkson?

Posted 3 days ago at 14:46 | 5 comments |

Jeremy Clarkson

I happen to quite like Jeremy Clarkson. No matter that he's a bit right-wing or that some of his newspaper articles seem to have been cobbled together in a couple of minutes, probably by a ghost writer*.

In person and on tele, he's entertaining, interesting and his views are slightly tempered by humour.

No wonder some are willing to confess they like him.

All that being equal, some people still don't like him. So my question today is: Does knowing that his Mum created the original Paddington Bear toy for him make him more likeable?

"Originally made one Christmas as a present for Shirley's and her husband Eddie's children Jeremy and Joanna, the bear remains a classic of its kind - one which still gives me pleasure whenever I see it - and it served as a kind of yardstick when judging other products. Some things, like Concorde and the Jaguar XK120, look right from the word go. It was created with love and it was born with that indefinable something known as star quality. You either have it or you don't."
Michael Bond, author of the Paddington Bear stories

* Although, for the sake of libel writ prevention, let's say not.

Today's Sitting Tennant: Top Gear

Posted 21 days ago at 12:29 | 4 comments |

David Tennant on Top Gear

Today's Sitting Tennant is from Top Gear. Or from that episode of Doctor Who where he was attacked by a gold velvet suit.

Amusing captions, please.

Got a picture of David Tennant sitting, lying down or in some indeterminate state in between? Then leave a link to it below and if it's judged suitable, it will appear in the “Sitting Tennant” gallery in due course.

Today's Sitting Tennant (from Rosby)

David Tennant on Top Gear

A flurry of activity from you admirers of David Tennant! As well as concerns about how horizontal Mr Tennant needs to be to be truly sitting, we've now a little bit of a backlog, so prepare yourself for photos from Toby and Persephone over the next few days. But first, this lovely picture of David Tennant driving in Top Gear. Thanks Rosby!

Captions and/or links to more pictures of David Tennant in a not-vertical (or better still, sitting) position in the comments section, please.

NBC's Fall 2008 shows

Posted on May 26, 2008 at 08:19 | 1 comment |

Knight Rider

NBC have been difficult this year. They've messed around with the whole concept of upfronts, which isn't helpful. They also haven't really got round to filming any proper pilots, which isn't helpful either.

All the same, they have given us some info about what shows they are going to make as well as a single solitary, slightly weak video to back it up. Let's look at the highlights - including Knight Rider, Top Gear, a remake of Kath and Kim, Sean Bean in Crusoe and Christian Slater trying to be Jason Bourne - and that poor lonely little vid.

  • Warship got a lot better and more focused as the series went on, so I'd recommend catching it on re-runs if you can since it's worth sticking with to the end.
