Attention Scum

Posted on May 29, 2008 at 11:00 | 9 comments |

Although I might come across as a lovely fellow online – fingers crossed – I have, occasionally, done very bad things. One of these was to take my lovely wife to see Simon Munnery as The League Against Tedium (described by blog god Stewart Lee as occupying the wasteland where comedy meets art since no one else wants to) when we were first dating. Quite why she stuck with me after that, I don't know.

Munnery went on to have two TV shows – Either/Or, a game show which I was on briefly and ended up losing/winning; and a BBC2 show Attention Scum. Just to give you the full flavour of what I put her through, here's a clip.

Apologies again, lovely wife.

Today's Sitting Tennant (from Rosby)

David Tennant on Top Gear

A flurry of activity from you admirers of David Tennant! As well as concerns about how horizontal Mr Tennant needs to be to be truly sitting, we've now a little bit of a backlog, so prepare yourself for photos from Toby and Persephone over the next few days. But first, this lovely picture of David Tennant driving in Top Gear. Thanks Rosby!

Captions and/or links to more pictures of David Tennant in a not-vertical (or better still, sitting) position in the comments section, please.

When Ruby Wax met Liza Minnelli and Katy Manning

Big fan of Ruby Wax? Love Liza Minnelli? Maybe you're more of a Katy Manning appreciator – she played Jo Grant on Doctor Who.

Then you'll love this.

Lost flash-forwards

Some enterprising Lost fan has stuck together the edited highlights of all the Lost flash-forwards in the correct sequence*. So what did happen once they got off the island – now you know.

* There's some nitpicking by others, but you get the point

Review: Fat Pig

Posted on May 30, 2008 at 10:21 | 4 comments |

Joanna Page and Kris Marshall in Fat Pig

Where: Trafalgar Studios, Studio 1
When: 7.30pm Mondays–Saturdays, 2.30pm matinees on Thursdays and Saturdays
How long: Two hours with a 15 minute interval
How much: £25-£45 (+ £1 restoration levy)
Tickets from: 0870 060 6632 or www.theambassadors.com/trafalgarstudios

My free tickets never arrived. Gosh. How can that be after all my publicity work? Maybe they got lost in the post.

Turns out the Fates wanted me to see it anyway.

You see, I was supposed to be going out to see a movie last night with my sister. But last week, she emails me. There's been a terrible mix-up with a theatre booking and she's ended up with matinee tickets which she can't use. But the box office has been able to sort it out and instead get her tickets for the night we were supposed to be going to the movie – do I mind seeing Fat Pig?

Oh.

Fat Pig starring Robert Webb (Peep Show), Kris Marshall (My Family), Ella Smith (Cape Wrath/Meadowlands) and Joanna Page (Gavin & Stacey)?

Well, it would be a shame for them to go to waste…
