The Flashing Blade

Posted on April 9, 2008 | 5 comments |

It seems hard to believe these days, but once upon a time, kids tea-time television was dominated by dubbed imports from French, German, Spanish and even Scandinavian TV. Who can forget Heidi, Oscar, Kina and the Laser or Silas.

Okay, well maybe you could. So as an aide memoire, here are the titles to The Flashing Blade, which is probably more famous for the re-dubbing done by those pranksters on On The Waterfront.

You can find out more about it over on the TV Cream web site.

Thanks so much for posting that.

As a school kid I loved it - before the Staggering Stories of ferdinand de Bargos people got their mitts on it and ruined it for me.

Rob, you have just explained to me why I write romantic fiction. There was me blaming Jean Plaidy, and actually it was the theme tune of The Flashing Blade imprinting on my psyche at a tender age. Thank you for that. I had completely forgotten that one. Can't remember anything about it apart from that theme tune!!

With scripts written by a certain RT Davies, of course.

I love this as well .. but .. **spoliers!**

Like the series The Water Margin it had the dubious virtue of killing off the hero in the last episode. There where tears in the espedair household when that happened I can tell you.

Luckily I watched the end of Ulseyes 31 to recover!

    ;)

God, he gets everywhere (he certainly appears to be stalking me with Simon Callow through Cardiff at the moment).
