"The only limit, I think, would be having The Doctor appear in Torchwood itself. Because the 9 o'clock transmission comes first, that would be putting a children's hero into the wrong environment.

I still think Davies is being disingenuous over this. Captain Jack is a children's hero! Nobody's convinced by putting him in an adult environment, including the writers and the cast!

[Russell T Davies denies it so it must be true] I think Jack is more of teen hero than a kids' hero. Kids don't really understand Jack but they sense he's fun. Teens know the score better with Jack. Adults are a bit more divided about him, I reckon, but anyone who wears the same set of clothes all the time isn't a well drawn, adult character.

It's funny, that. He never wore the same clothes all the time when he was originally in series 1 of Doctor Who — he was wearing jeans and a white T-shirt when he died, IIRC. And he didn't use a WW2 service revolver even when he was pretending to be an RAF officer. Wonder why they decided to put him in 40s gear all the time? It's a very John Nathan-Turner thing to do, especially if you're trying to sell him as an adult character.

And it doesn't fit into the Jack timeline well, either. Jack visits Second World War, leaves with Doctor, goes into the future and changes clothes; Jack dies, goes back in time to 19th, fights in the First World War and then lives through to modern times.

So why's he get stuck at the Second World War look again? Has he been wearing the same clothes for 60 years?

Just checked out the Spike-TV video of Jay's Garage.... I wasn't keen on Arnett doing the voice of KITT, and thought maybe Kilmer might be better. But if that's how he'll sound in the actual TV movie, yeesh! Sounds like all the personality has been sucked out of him. That type of voice from Douglas Raines worked for HAL 9000, but here?

I'm not saying they have to stick with a peevish, snarky personality like William Daniels brought to it, but at least he gave KITT life! I don't know... maybe they should have had Jay Leno do it; NBC could make up for forcing him out of the Tonight show.

Or Alec Baldwin if they wanted to stay in-house. Or does he sound like there's something clogging his engine?

Man, good thing I was never deep into 'Knight Rider' or i'd really have been picky about this!
