Interesting Big Finish development

Posted on January 8, 2008 | 4 comments |

Just spotted something interesting, dedicated followers of Big Finish Doctor Who plays. If you've already listened to this play, you'll know something interesting happens at the end that leaves the conclusion somewhat undetermined.

Well, I was browsing the Big Finish web site when I came across one of the future releases and browsed its cover. Have a look at the names. Interesting, huh?

Well done Big F (hopefully)!

Tricky to talk about this without spoiling the best 8th BF story in ages but I'll try. This is great news and actually given that the tone of the interview with someone on that play wasn't anything like the release before in terms of talking about the most obvious thing, there had to be something up. I'd personally just put it down to BF doing something nice and cool, but it's great that they've decided that some things are worth keeping. It'll be fun hearing what happens and how they deal with the other obvious issue of someone knowing about what happens to someone else. Unless some of the things which happened at the end of that play help to deal with those things.

    Does that make any sense?

Yes it does, and yes I agree!

While I'm not really against the idea as such, I'm peeved at Big Finish for denying me closure with a character who they already stretched way past a natural point of departure. What makes that even more irritating is 'The Girl Who Never Was' presented a number of ways of doing just that very successfully before it turned its back on all of them. It's as if they just can't let anyone go.

I'm not so sure. Maybe they realised they arsed up, knew the character was popular all the same, and have chosen to give her/him a chance at a second life (with perhaps even a return to her/his natural milieu in the fullness of time/other actors' commitments).
