RIP Verity.
Most bizarre reaction I've seen to this:
When we look at the long list of her achievements, I want to know why she wasn't more celebrated in Who fandon circles. I mean, what? I didn't even know about her ... the only two I've heard mentioned are RTD and John Nathan-Turner ... I am not amused by this. I am assuming the fanboys were scared.
Yes, there's been a secret conspiracy on the part of those male fans who remember a time before RTD to erase Verity Lambert from history. I mean, think of all those Who guides written by fans ('zines, online fansites, Wikipedia, professional publications etc) which deliberately make no mention of her contributions. And you'd never see a post about her on Usenet.

Where on Earth did you see that? The "I only go to Outpost Gallifrey and read stuff written by 10 year olds" forum? What a strange claim. There are plenty more DW producers languishing in obscurity than VL, who was very well documented. I dare the average Who fan to name even two producers of Patrick Troughton's era without recourse to Wikipedia, et al.
All the same, she deserves more of a bigging up than she got, for DW as well as her many other shows.

I saw it in the comments of a LiveJournal thread:
http://melengro.livejournal.com/28085.html
The commenter claims to be 31 and has only attended conventions for the last couple of years. Apparently, it was too much trouble for her to read a book. Or even watch the gazillion Channel 4 Top 100 shows which feature Lambert herself.
